Heres my rendition of 3d Targeting Ring in the shape of a compass. It is static and may be off by a pixel.
This is not the compass, it is the 3d Target Ring.

Your right its not a compass but it is a very nice Target ring. If its accurate even better.
The only thing that might really help is to include maybe a couple of pictures with CONS and a couple with the use of leadership and how the graphics appear.

This Compass Target Ring Always Points North
This is functional, though of course it's not really a replacement for a compass unless you always play third person and target yourself.
