Tome of the Heroe's Journey?
 

I just started up with EQ again to see what has changed and such. Upon entering the game all my characters get Tome of the Heroe's Journey, which upon right clicking does nothing.

All related posts that I have read indicate it puts you on a path relevant to your class and level.

Does anyone have any info?

You will get a list of "achievements"

One of those will be the Hero's Journey. It is a sort of recommended path to follow with quests, progression and some special achievements.
