I would definately consider the computer an artistic medium. You should look at some of Tadashya's arteork on her website. Perfect example of real art done electronically.

I do know that the electronic art is classified as a artistic medium, but there are some die hard artists who feel that slapping a few prerendered skins or forms together not art... more like model building (my friend is one of those people...) I myself am not, many of these artists are fantastic at what they create. I would love to have access to such programs (but dont as most of the good ones are wee bit priced.) Sorry if what I said came across incorrectly...
