Maps PLZ
Hello. Just returned to the game after being away MANY MANY years ( around 9 if my mind serves me correct ). I know i used to have all my maps printed out in a binder and could look at them when i needed to.
I have been looking through the forums and UI's and can't seem to find any maps that can be added to the UI. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just to be able to see each zone map and where i am on the map ( instead of a blank map everywhere i go). Is this possible in the setup of the game today? If it is , I could really use a friendly player to point me in the direction of getting these maps. Thanks in advance. |

The actual maps are found on other websites. WWW.mapfiend.net or www.eqresources.com.

Customizing maps is a hobby of mine. :) |
Does the custom folder get picked up automatically or should I copy the contents of custom into the eq/maps folder?
Thanks for the maps ;) |
either way. you can copy the contents into the maps folder or put the custom folder in the maps folder and choose custom in game.

You are very welcome! I probably should have shared hem ages ago! Regarding file placement, it depends on how complicated you want to get. I prefer to have everything in the main eq/maps folder so when I am looking at a map, I do not have to select which map I want to view. You can probably delete the "custom" subfolder included in the download. I was going to stick them all in there but just got lazy and ended up making modifications in the main folder. |
A year or two ago Sony decided it would be nice of them to provide some player made maps for us. A few players donated maps so now the maps folder has 145 map files. If you put your custom map files in the default maps folder those 145 files will be overwritten every time eq patches. ie every time you log in. I recommend keeping the custom folder inside maps folder.

(Correct me if I am wrong) The only maps that get overwritten in the default folder are layer 1? Layers 2 and 3 do not get patched. Not sure about that, but it sounds good :) |
