Map UI -- Your black arrow.. Color change?? Possible?
 

As the title suggests.

Surely there is a way to change the color of your maps arrow. The arrow that represents yourself,.. the one that moves with you across your map showing where you are in relation to the zone map.

The black arrow is hard to spot, and I've always thought it silly that it hasn't been changed or had an option to change its color from black.

I use maps at very low opacity, to see through them, as most experienced people do these days, .. and either there is an arrow color change mod out there -- hope so, that you guys could point me in the direction of.

Or, could someone look into it?

It looks very simple to do imo.

pretty sure its hard coded to be black. i know its crappy, i have wanted to change it forever.

It is possible to change the color, however, it also changes the color of the "x" that marks your group members.

I have it a different color on one of my toons, so it is a per toon setting. I just forget which setting it is. I will check and get back on what setting it is.

Go to your file UI_Playername_Servername.ini.

Look for [MapViewWnd]

ShowGroup=true
GroupColor.red=0
GroupColor.green=0
GroupColor.blue=0


Change the GroupColor to any color you want. You have to pick numbers between 0 and 255. That changes both your group and your own arrow.

[EDIT: This is wrong, you can't change your own arrow, just group members]

change which? mine already has green set at 250 and i see a black arrow

Cudya's wrong. You were right, there is no way for players to currently change the color of the arrow.

The bright green arrow nowadays in the default settings was annoying for me as more as the arrow direction was very hard to see when I turned in tracking direction and were standing close to my group.

As said, the file to change the arrow color is in your EQ-main-Directory:

UI_Playername_Servername.ini

Search for

[MapViewWnd]
[...]
MyColor.red=0
MyColor.green=250
MyColor.blue=0
GroupColor.red=0
GroupColor.green=250
GroupColor.blue=0
[...]

Here you can do the change for you and your group in different colors. It works as soon as you start the game again from desktop.

Under map configuration, there is 'Set My Color' and 'Set Group color'.

Those will set your color (the arrow) and your groups color (the Xs).
