How so? in what manor? What UI? more spacifics?

Some UIs require a .ini file, normally supplied with the zip archive, to place all the windows correctly.

Some UIs, if they are zipped really bad, might actually miss graphic files, thus causes a default graphic to show instead.

It's hard to say what went wrong w/out knowing what went wrong.

the screen resolution you are running at will make a HUGE difference.. there is also the matter of 32 bit vs 16 bit. All my skins are done for 1024x768 or higher - all 32 bit. If they should be run at a lower res they colors begin to change.

32bit color and resolution would be the key I bet.

You said it "no go". How so? Any screen shots of how it looks on your screen? That will definatly speak as to what it wrong.
