I'm also experiencing this problem. Seems the game does not load the file window_pieces01.tga in your custom folder any longer. I hope someone can find a work around because I hate all those darn squiggly border lines.

Before the update, all I had to do was to slip the file window_pieces01.tga into my custom folder and it gave me the nice square borders.
