New Item Display Window
Any news on when they are going to fix/change the new Item Display Window? I do not think enough of us sent in complaints about it... I'm afraid they will just sweep it under the rug and forget about it.
P.S. I HATE THE NEW ITEM WINDOW (just had to get that off my chest)

There is a HUGE thread in the Veterans section of the SOE Everquest forum about that stupid item window. All the devs have said so far is that they are going to revamp it again.
They're all at Fan Faire this weekend so I would imagine that next week once everyone is back we'll probably get more info on when they're going to revamp it.

I've been thinking about starting up again.
What exactly did they do and what is preventing the community from modding it back to their liking?
Did they make it so item info isn't an eqtype but is dependent on the frame itself making modding impossible?

As far as I know, the item window was never an eqtype. You could change the look of the window but not move things around.

Right so did they make it so you can't even move stuff around in this update? Otherwise authors should be able to mod it back to the old style. I'm thinking they must have put a separate frame inside the window that holds the new data with the button switch etc.

Because they are not eqtypes you cannot move items around. The window will stay the same. Think you can change border, color, things like that, but not the format or layout of the data.

The stat data and the columns have position variables. As long as people don't try taking them out of the parent window they should still be movable.

The problem is you can't change some of the hard coded stuff, like the way it auto-resizes every time you open it.
Some items open up in a window so small it's practically useless, others open in a huge window with no text. There's just no consistency and I don't really feel like spending hours modding the window when I can't fix the real problems with it.

They've hard coded it to a point where you really can't do much with it. You can change the font size and some of the positions, but the sections of the window they put in can't be altered in size and as the PP said it will open as a different size randomly so you still have to futz with it every time you click an item link.  |

And tell your friends to also. We need to keep the wave of protest going, and with new names too. If they see the same old people complaining for months, it won't bother them. |
