Cool Is there a method to only use the STYLE of a UI, not the entire UI itself?

Hi,
I currently use the default EQ user interface - I like it nice and simple.

The only thing is, I've seen people using "boxy" user interfaces, which I really like.

So my question is - and if you have the answer, I'll give you a cookie - is there any way to use the same default layout, buttons, etc, without changing any of the windows, but applying just the "boxy" style from another interface? I especially like how the depressed buttons look on boxy UI's. The default EQ UI buttons are a real strain on the eyes!

Thanks in advance - you guys rock!

Can you give an example of a boxy UI style you like? Adapting it to simply re skin the default UI might take very little work depending on how the UI was made.

In the best possible situation, you'd only need the image files from the UI, second best would be the image files plus EQUI_Animations.xml.

What Enok said!

Ideally, you just have to replace window files like for example the window_pieces files. Sometimes you have alot more images though like for AYA UI 4example.

In that case you could always try to open up your current images, and replace the different graphics with the ones of your choice.
(Make sure you have an imaging tool that suports alpha channels so you don't end up with transparency issues.)

Hi guys,
Thanks for the quick response!

Here is a couple links. The first one is to a screenshot of the basic UI style I like (note the boxiness, and also smooth buttons):

Here's a link to the download page...don't know if you need it or not:

This was just an example of what I like. All I'd want to do is apply the border graphics, as mentioned above, and the button style would be nice too. What do you guys think?

Try downloading that UI and extract only the TGA files into a custom UI folder (none of the XML files) and see how it looks in game. That one might do what you're looking for, and due to an apparent lack of EQUI_Animations.xml file, will be fairly patch-proof.
