Default Spell Casting Window Problem

I use an old modified Spell Casting Window created by Thonyv years ago which combines the spell casting window and parts of the group window in one:

This is the most effective healer set up I have ever found since you can switch between group members and then cast a heal very quickly. I have kind of nursed this thru all the patches and expansions, I even got the 10th spell gem added to the one I currently used.

Since the expansion patch, the targeting is messed up. When I click on the top group members name (labeled F2 in the picture), it actually targets me instead. I have to click on the second group member's name (labeled F3) to target the first player listed. There is no way to target the last player (labeled F6) by clicking in the window. I have resorted to placing the actual default group window beside this window and clicking on the F6 player in that.

Any help in straightening out this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I've had the exact same problem reported for my target window (http://www.eqinterface.com/download...php?s=&id=5348). I couldn't see any errors when I looked at the code yesterday so I think this might be a bug.

I'll post here if I find out any more about this.

lol, you beat me to it. I was hunting for this post all yesterday to let you know about this patch but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I've just had a look at that UI piece, I really like the idea of a casting window right next to the group, I kind of had that idea with my main UI, but wound up putting hotbuttons next to the group instead (for heal macros, etc).

I really like the concept though, it takes me back to the ideas I had when I first started creating my UI, and it's making me wonder if I could re-think it again for the next release

One thing I have just realised is that my horizontal group window is ideal for this. The layout means I could put a horizontal spell bar just above it, and a horizontal spell bar means that I could incorporate your mana gauge into the spell bar itself.

My target window already has target, hott, and a cast timer, so with that floating just above it would be a hard to beat layout for a healer. You've got nice big clickable windows for the group, colour changing gauges so you can see when people take damage, with spells, cast timer and target info right next to all of that.

lol, I've only just finished the current release and with one post you've got me thinking about completely re-doing it

You have a good point and idea. Since my main is a healer, and I know zippo about XML, I would love to see a link to your version of the window with 10 gems. You can PM for an email addy to send it too if you could.

it's likely to be a few weeks before this gets done, and I'm not at all sure how to get this working for hybrid classes, but here are a few concepts that I think could work.

One of the really nice things about this is that the mana gauge can be tied to the spell bar, and the endurance gauge to the combat ability bar. In theory you could create one UI that's ideal for everybody, but I'm struggling to fit the pieces in at the moment.

Another quick update. I think I can make a modular UI, it would follow a similar layout to my standard UI, but you could pick & choose the pieces you want to use out of:
  • Spell window (with mana bar)
  • Combat abilities window (with endurance bar)
  • Pet window (choice of 2 layouts)
  • Group window
  • Voice chat bar
  • Hotkey bar
