Default Selector window help

In my custom UI, my window selector does not have the merc button. If I use the default selector my whole UI reverts to default. The only way I can see/use the merc window is to change to default UI. I am using pieces of UI from all over this site. Can anyone help me out?

Try copying window_pieces04.tga from default file into your custom file... worth a shot... depends on exactly what you're using.

Do you have a custom mercenary xml file, or custom toplevelscreens xml file? Is it definately not opening, or could it be hidden behind something?

I looked behind every window and did not see it anywhere. I tried using default toplevelscreens xml file. After I loaded UI everything went to default. I am using default merc windows.

So just changing your toplevelscreens.xml file is enough for the UI to fail to load? What on earth do you have in that file?

you dont need top level in your custom ui.. it will pull from default as needed...chances are you have the merc button listed twice in you selector window xml pieces section...if that is the case it wont open when you click...or if you have it where it is where another button says it is...those are what ya need to check..

Hal

if you can post your selector window xml file here would be easier for others to help you.

The easiest way to get the merc button would be to delete the windowselector file from your custom ui folder, that would give you the default window selector window.

Other than that, you'll either need to modify the window to add the button or wait till the ui author updates it.

When you go from the TopLevelWnd.xml file to the default one, are you just renaming (or deleting) the one in your custom UI folder?

You say your UI fails to load when you do this. Can you post the last few lines from your UIerrors.txt file when this happens.

You need to open that file straight after you get the error, before you load another UI. Usually it has hundreds of 'warning' messages. You can ignore all of these, it's just the error right at the end that we need to see.
