Transparency with Cursor?

I don't understand how to use the Alpha Channels in PS6, how do I make this white around the cursor transparent? I tried to save to Alpha Channel but it shows no image and I don't understand it... It's already a Tga, just don't understand how to make the white transparent, if anyone knows simply, how... thanks..
