The /viewport command is explained by Cairenn here.

The only problem with the viewport command on a UI thats set up along the bottom is it will just "CUT" the world at the bottom and not change the perspective...

You have to use something in 4/3 ratio to get the viewport to change its perspective.. For example 1000x750 or 400x300 or 600x450.. There may be other ratios that work too but I have no knowledge of them yet.. Will fiddle with that later too..

What I suggest (and personally use) is using the UI_TabletsViewport_1024x768.ini with a viewport of 864x648(4/3 ratio)
Ingame type: /viewport 0 0 864 648

Shrink the chat windows down so they show 8 lines of chat.. And make all the main windows around viewport 100% solid..
I attached a screenshot.

As a ranger, maybe replace the pet window with the 4x2 casting window..


Another suggestion.. Maybe set everything up on the top of the screen..

Forget who to pray to? I had to compromise some with the information displayed... But I was thinking of putting diety in the autoequip area of the inventory.. This will most likely be in the next version..

I also left out the surnames and aa points available.. Don't know where/if to put those in yet.. I'll see what, if anything, I can do with them too

reread and wanted to note: AA Pts available to spend is still in the AA Window

I have been using a viewport of one size or another for a while now and had never noticed any of the world being "cut off" in any of them. I never tested it with a rat per se but I did test it against background graphics of the game that had lines on it, and was assured that I was seeing the whole world, just slightly higher up on my screen. Maybe I'll have to go back and play with the settings again to double check. One thing I'd like you to expound on is what /viewport you are comparing the 4/3 type to....which type of /viewport supposedly cuts off some of the world? Is it higher or lower? For example I tend to use a /viewport that only cuts off roughly 1/5 of my screen (yup, space hog) which is why I loved Tablets, I can shove everything in the bottom and it all just fits perfectly!
Anyways hehe those are my thoughts.

Regardless of how wide or narrow you make the viewport, you will always get the same width rendered. Basically you can't give yourself a wider field of vision. You can make the height whatever you want, EQ will just give you more vertical periphery. If you make your viewport half the width of the screen and centered but still the full height, you'd see the same amount width-wise, but have double the top/bottom viewing area. Just everything will be half size.

P.S. - Personally, I don't use a viewport and never will. I want as much 3D rendered as possible with windows floating on top (mostly non-transparent except for hitsmode chat window which is completely invisible).

P.P.S. - I also wanted to point out that using a viewport doesn't affect framerate for good or bad. This is also why I don't use it. I might as well get as much 3D as possible.

Hmm.. How can I explain the cutting.. I know with a picture..
Look at the attachment for what I mean by "CUT"


No using a viewport will not noticably speed up any interface. It's
just nice to see more of world unhindered..

This reminded me of something. The resolution where you will get the absolute most viewing area (over-all degrees of visibility) is 1280x1024. Why? Because it's a 5x4 ratio instead of 4x3. So? You get the same viewing area width-wise, but more viewing area height-wise. Just something fun I wanted to point out. Personally I have my desktop set to 1280x1024 with a 1024x768 windowed EQ in the bottom right corner.

P.S. - But if I played fullscreen it would be at 1280x1024.

Yea, 5/4 ratio looks pretty good too... It is a tiny bit distorted..

Hmmm I wonder what a 1x1 ratio looks like 1024x1024

Edit: Looks pretty good too... A little more distorted than 5/4..

I didn't really think I'd be affected by the cutting off of the world since like i said i run 1280x1024 with the bottom 1/5 not rendered. I couldn't stand any more than that I'd just be robbing myself lol.
Oh and btw tal....1280x1024 looks perfect to me, but 1024x768 looks big, fat and distorted

Ellyana if you don't mind diving into the xml yourself the font size and color is one of the easiest things to change in a UI. Just open the file you'd like to change in a text editor like Notpad and do a find for the word "font". 1 is the smallest font, 5 is the largest, so just kick some numbers up one or two untill you like what you see. You can use your chat size in game as a good indication of how big it's gonna be with the /chatfontsize command.

Just wanted to check in and see if anything was in the works tal. Don't get me wrong I still love this UI a lot, I just tend to freak out and wonder what I've been missing when I still like one after a couple of months lol. Another UI I like a lot is Infiniti's. He seems to constantly tweak this or that to "improve" or otherwise just change around little things. I dunno, keeps things more exciting i guess.

HI EVERYBODY!!

Sorry it's been quiet but I've been very, very, busy latey.. I do work on this UI in the little free time I have... So here's a short list of things I'm doing and progress..

-Fix Map Window: Dropping in other people's map mods will work.. Done (Can download in this thread)

-I also, want to change map window to be about half the size of the default.. Haven't started yet

-Also fixed the bug that WBBuch discovered with dropping in mods.. Done

-Colored Health Indicators for Group, Player, Target, PetInfo Windows. Still in "concept" phase.. I have the target window done I will leave the old Indicatorless Windows as an option..

-TK Class Animations can't be installed because remmy.exe isn't compatible with my equi_animations.xml setup..
I have this fixed and done ( although, I don't know if remmy is used on anything else)

-I'm thinking about giving each color it's own background texture.. Grey is done.. Will do the others over time..
Gauge,Button,etc mods will also be released over time..

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.. I'm sure there's one or two more small changes..

Now would be a good time for Suggestions, Comments, or BUG REPORTS

No ETA on anything.. BUT, I am working on this UI!!
Will post a screenshot of the Health Indicators when the concept looks ok
