Installation
Find your EQ installation directory. Inside the EverQuest/uifiles folder, do one of the following:
- To use TimerMod with the default UI, create a new folder (name must not contain spaces).
- To use TimerMod with an existing UI mod, locate the folder for that mod.
Unzip the contents of the TimerMod file package into the designated folder. Make sure you have the following files:
- INSTRUCTIONS-Timer[Selector].html (this file)
- Timer[Selector].xml (timer XML file)
- Timer[Selector].tga (timer graphics file)
- EQUI_SelectorWnd.xml (window XML file)
If you are not already logged into EverQuest, log into the game. When you are logged in, do one of the following:
- Type /load FOLDER (where FOLDER is the name of your mod folder)
- As an alternative, you can type /load and select your mod folder from the list. You can use this method only if your Skins window has not been replaced by another mod (such as TimerMod).
NOTE: Make sure you keep this file so that you can reconfigure your timers without having to re-enter all the information.
Setup
To open the timer window, use one of the following method(s):
- Press the configurable hotkey for the Selector window (default is Alt W). To view/change your setting for this hotkey, go to Options > Keyboard > UI > Toggle selector window.
To close the timer window, use one of the following method(s):
- Press the configurable hotkey for the Selector window (default is Alt W). To view/change your setting for this hotkey, go to Options > Keyboard > UI > Toggle selector window.
- Right-click the window and select Close from the context menu.
To move the timer window, follow these steps:
- First, make sure that the window is not locked by right-clicking on it and looking at the Lock setting.
- Left-click around the outside edge of the timers until the move cursor appears. NOTE: Because the timers use a borderless window, the move cursor will not appear when you hover your mouse around the edge; you must actually click to see the move cursor.
- Once you've found a spot where you can grab the window, left-click and hold to drag the window to the desired position.
- It is recommended that you Lock the window after positioning to prevent accidental moving while setting the timer markers.
To change the fade settings of the timer window, follow these steps:
- Right-click on the window and select Alpha > Normal Level from the context menu. This lets you set the fade level of the window when the cursor is over the window (100% is fully visible).
- Right-click on the window and select Alpha > Faded Level from the context menu. This lets you set the fade level of the window when the cursor has moved out of the window (100% is fully visible).
With your timers in the old Selector window, you can still access all your windows via the new EQ button menu system.
Usage
Here are some general instructions on using the timers:
- To see a timer's name and duration, hover your cursor over the timer's icon. A tooltip will appear with the information.
- When you want to start timing, simply set the marker to the current position of the dot. The dot will continue moving and reach the marker's position again when exactly one duration of the timer has elapsed. As the dot approaches the marker, you will know that time's almost up.
- For very short duration events, you can just "eyeball" the position of the dot if you wish. Setting the marker is optional and up to you.
- If your timer was configured with a split marker, you can set each half of the marker separately to time two instances of the same event.
- To time variable-duration events, you can use a general-purpose timer where each section of the bar represents a nice round unit of time. Use the tick marks on the bar to help you set the marker.

Reconfiguration
To make changes to your timers quickly and easily, you can launch the configuration wizard with your existing settings already filled in by clicking on the Reconfigure Timers button at the top of this page. When you are done making your changes, simply download the new file package and unzip over your existing files.
