Short duration buff window
|
|
This is an updated version of Geddine's buff window and short duration buff window which I have used for a long time. It displays buff slot numbers and buff descriptions, and it's also easy to tell if it's a beneficial or detrimental spell effect. This version is the same size as Gedd's original window. It supports up to the full 30 buff and 20 short duration slots.
*Update on 10/12/2010* - Updated XML files to be compatible with latest House of Thule Expansion
*Update on 12/8/2010* - Updated animations file for new drag item graphic in today's patch.
*Update on 2/3/2011* - Big update:
-Updated animations file to work with latest patch.
-Graphics file is now a .dds file which has better quality in EQ than .tga.
-Buff color graphic no longer has the curved edge on the right side.
-Buff color graphic now has a gradient transparency, with the far left being opaque (255) and the far right having a value of 100.
-Windows can now be re-sized if you so desire. I didn't make this default because of a few reasons but if you would like to try it, go into the buffwindow and shortdurationbuffwindow xml files and one of the last lines is '<Style_Sizable>false</Style_Sizable>'. Change those to true. You can now re-size the window either horizontally or vertically.
*Update 11/13/2011* - Updated for Veil of Alaris expansion. Now has 42 buff slots which makes it quite a bit larger than before.

Hmm not sure what to tell you, it works fine for me. Is the "show buff timers" button pushed in your display tab in the options window?

Re: Re: Re: Question
Yes you're absolutely right. I made a new UI folder called "test", loaded only your xml files into it, and yours worked just fine. What I'd been doing was overwriting the buff xml files in the Blue Infinity complete set with yours. I thought the seperate files would work more or less independent of each other, and wouldn't interfere . Thank you for your response. You solved my problem.

I was unable to reproduce this issue, I just tried it again and it works fine. I would suggest making a new ui folder and putting only the files from the buff UI zip in there and load it to see if it does the same thing. It could be another part of your UI causing the issue, or display settings in the EQ options.

Re: Question
This UI is the perfect size and the perfect design. I love it and I can't wait till a fix. The temporary buffs window works fine. But for some reason, the normal buff window has the following problems:
- there's no blue background for the spell names, just transparency making the names nearly impossible to read
- there's no spell icons
- the onscreen timers won't display (whether its turned on or off in options)
Please update this soon. You rock for even coming up with this awesome UI.

Fantastic looking buff window, I love the colors. Is there a way to integrate the older spell icons into the window?

Remove numbers
For those that dont like the numbers and are just looking for a transparent buff window, open the file in notepad and do a search for the period charactor "."
These will be contained between the <text></text> tags. Just delete the numbers and periods between these tags to remove them from the final window.

re
Aye does not work for me either. I went through everyone of my custom ui files by creating a new custom folder and one at a time installing each one and doing a loadskin after. As soon as I put this one in everquest will not load the custom ui folder and drops back to default.

No way to do that from what i've been told. Also no way to get rid of the last 4 buff slots, as EQ checks for them. They may also be used in DoD somewhere from a progression quest or something.

The default EQ buff window is resizeable, it sounds like making this one resizeable at least vertically would be useful as well.

I won't be deleting any slots because there are those that need the extra 5 but I did get someone to make a smaller version of both windows. Will be posting that soon.
