The vertical hotbars still not working since I cant change the size on it in default mode, any hint on what to do about it?

This is still the .ini file bug but there is a different way to fix it that I've found thanks to the folks on the EQ Live boards.

What you'll need to do is open your UI_charactername_server.ini file and scroll down until you see (or do CTRL-F and find) [LootWnd]. Under that heading you'll find a bunch of parameters, but what you need is to find a height and width parameter for your screen's resolution. You need to change the number after the equals sign for Width to 160 and Height to 240. For example, on my computer it would look like this:

Width1920x1200=160
Height1920x1200=240

Save it and load EQ. That should take care of your loot window problems.

I don't at this time but it's in the works. The normal 1280x1024 version should work fine with some additions. What I did on my widescreen laptop before the new 1920x1200 addons was just to put a couple chat windows on each side with some of the spell and melee spam that I wanted to be able to see filtered into them and made the window transparent.

While windowed you can resize the EQ window to 1280x1024.

Making the UI bigger is easy; I can just add windows. Making the UI smaller is much more difficult and involves basically graphically reconstructing and rewriting the whole thing. I've been considering a 1024x768 version for a while but the time factor prohibits it.

I am having this same problem as well. It's like part of the loot window is cut off. It takes me 3 times to loot my corpse. I did the .ini fix by deleting my defaults file and added the UI file into my EQ folder. It helped the rest of the UI but not the loot window. The loot window is having the same issue on my husband's pc as well. It's no biggie, I don't mind it and I love the UI. I was just wondering if anybody else was having this problem.

I love this UI, its great. SoE really botched mine up though, now when I play in windowed mode it forces the UI resolution to be 1280 x 768 - so the UI is the same size and I can't fit everything on my window unless i drag out the walls of the window to cover the whole desktop - which defeats the purpose of windowed mode other than for boxing... Any way for me to chance the UI items to be smaller so I can fit it in a 1024x768 screen?

I love this UI. I picked up a new laptop with Wide Screen Display of 1680 x 1050. I was wondering if you have a version of this UI that would work with my new wide screen ratio?

That sounds like the same bug to me. I'm logging in now and will check it out on my machine.

EDIT: Trader window looks fine to me.

Thank you Melenden My UI works great now. However, I out your UI on my trader, but when I opened the "trader" window, there seemed to be a few buttons missing, almost as if the window itself got resized. I know the servers were down and not sure if you have had a chance to take a look at it. I just thought I would bring it up here in case anyone else has seen this issue or if it is just me!!!

I haven't looked at the loot window since the patch, and can't right now because the servers are down, but off the top of my head I can't come up with the reason for your problem. According to my files the EQUI_LootWnd.xml file hasn't been modified since January 15, 2007. It may be the .ini settings file issues.

Once the servers come up, I'll take a look at it.

EDIT: My window appears to be functioning normally, try the .ini file fix I suggested earlier.

great work on the UI ....

one problem ...

the loot window is jacked ....... its long like the old one but the gear goes the other way if i'm making sense ... the box for loot goes long vertically but it seems that the gear goes horizontally ... had to loot three times to get everything

any advice on how to fix that would be awesome

In the mods folder there should be a folder named 'horizontal_hotbars'. Inside that folder there will be 8 different folders each with a different EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml file. You choose which folder you take the file from by which hotbars you want to be horizontal, in otherwords:

foldername : effect

2 : Only hotbar number 2 will be horizontal
3 : Only hotbar number 3 will be horizontal
4 : Only hotbar number 4 will be horizontal
23 : Both hotbars 2 and 3 will be horizontal
24 : Both hotbars 2 and 4 will be horizontal
34 : Both hotbars 3 and 4 will be horizontal
234 : All hotbars will be horizontal
vertical: All hotbars will be vertical

Once you have chosen the file you want, copy it from the folder and move it to the base VBS folder (default name is 'd3vbs_v.2.3') and reload your UI.

It might be a tad confusing but I did it this way for maximum flexibility. In asking my guildies which bars they wanted horizontal, I never got the same answer twice... so this should satisfy everyone.

As far as the action window always showing on top, I don't know what is causing that. I just tested it for both my melee and caster layouts and that isn't happening.

I have two question:

How do you switch the Vertical Hotbuttons bars 2, 3 and 4 to vertical?
Why does the Action window come on top of the pe window every time you zone?

That is a problem with your .ini settings files caused by the changes that Sony made to the backend of the UI today.

What you'll need to do is log out of the game completely, then go into your base EQ folder and delete the defaults.ini file. In the d3vbs_v.2.3 folder, there will be a file called UI_username_server.ini. Replace username with your character's name and server with the name of your server. Move that file from the d3vbs_v.2.3 folder into your base EQ folder and say yes when it asks you to overwrite. Load up EQ. If you changed the name of the d3vbs_v.2.3 folder do /loadskin and reload the UI. That should solve the problem.
