Dark Maps works by having a black background TGA file and converted map files (Brewall and Goods).

Copy both "Dark Brewall" and/or "Dark Good's Maps" folders to C:\path to\EverQuest\maps folder.

The cart.tga is a ui file that display black background of map window. If you already have a custom UI, then copy the cart.tga to the C:\path to\EverQuest\uifiles\CustomUI folder. If that does not work - it is likely there's a custom map window, you can try backup and delete EQUI_MapViewWnd.xml from your custom UI folder to use the default Maps window.

If you are using default UI, you can go into C:\path to\EverQuest\uifiles and create a new folder called darkmaps and drop the cart.tga file into that new folder and it should be the only file in the darkmaps folder. The darkmaps folder would be in same uifiles folder as default folder. Then once in the game, type /loadskin then select darkmaps (make sure the Keep Your Layout is still pushed in/enabled) then click Load Skin.

You will need to select either "Dark Brewall" or "Dark Good's Map" in Map window. If your background is not black, then cart.tga file is not in right place.
