Nope not dead just asleep. I have made good progress. Well doing this I went off on a tangent to work on something related to this but not completely this project. Expect some updates in the next week or two.

So is there an editor or no?

It looks like you got everyone all excited as of over 5 months ago, and I don't see anything yet.

Is it available somewhere or still a work in progress?

Typically people wait until they have at least a working alpha before they start telling people about it. I get the feeling this tool will never be realized.

GreenDragon 01-17-2006 10:05 PM

This is still a for sure project. There is a working program though not enough to make a release. All thats there now is basically a notepad of sorts with some special formatting. Though this week i'm putting some extra work into. Look for some news updates near Friday or Saturday.

I'm sorry about not responding when I had promised we had our internet disconnected for awhile there while we were switching over. Check back this evening for some updates.

Looking forward to using your program as the basis of UI creations, I am sure it will be well worth the wait and I am sure SOE may even use it for their own use. Lord knows they need the help.

dracsnarra 01-27-2006 04:01 PM

*sigh*

tried SIDL Fiddle - get some wierd error that noone has mentioned anywhere how to fix =/

tried SidlWidl = can't seem to actually edit anything =/

where is a working UI editor when you need one, anyway? /cry

danny91643 03-02-2006 12:32 AM

Ok let me see if I can't a least get you started. Assuming you know how to open your default directory within sidlwidl and are able to select the Skin you wish to edit.

On the Left hand side you will see a list of files. select the file you wish to edit and click on the + box. This will list all the componets for that window. Scroll to the bottom of the list to Screen (Name of window) and double click.
This should open the window in the (what I call) the view screen. You can clik on the Pieces in the window which will open a Box around the piece, you can drag it to a new position or resize it.
In the lower left hand cornner you see the stats for the selected Piece or window. The function of the box around the selected item works the same as adjusting windows in the game.

Hope that helps a little. There is so much to cover to teach someone how to use this editor it would take a looooooong time to pass it all on. But I think I have given you a basic start at least.

Just a note: I use three UI folders ZAYA, Test, Skin1. I do all my editing on the Test UI save them to skin1 then check the file saved in Skin1 with XMLWrench for errors. I then copy the file to test and load Test in game. This way I can still keep up with my Guild Raids with my main ZAYA UI and use Test during Banking etc. to see if I actually like the changes I have made. If I like them I copy them over to my Main UI.

Once you have made changes and things look like they are what you want click file/Save As/Skin1.

It is a lot of work, but the editor does work well at least for me.

trying that now =)

ok thank you very much for all your help so far danny, and i had double-clicked on pretty much everything BUT that, so i will do that now. *crosses fingers* i'm hoping that will get me started and i can figure this out. the program seems to function with the assumption that you already know what you are doing, so there in is most likely where my problem is LOL. really appreciate the help tho. banana's for danny =)

:nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

i'd kiss you, but ur too far away ;)
