Fix for 10/16 Patch.
 
1. Backup your custom skin directory in uifiles in case this, for some reason, doesnt work.

2. Download the patch.

3. Open your ./uifiles/customskin/EQUI_Animation.xml file with a program like WordPad.

Add the follow lines to the end of the file but BEFORE the </XML> tag.

The post took out the tabs, but you dont have to have them.
If you want them just put them in to match the rest of the file.

UI Patch
 
I am at work so can't try this yet but will this work with UIs from your UI builder? I made them for all my chars and they are a mix and match of several different peoples works. Please any help is really appreciated.

I am uploading a patch to the uibuilder site now.
However when it comes back up there will be a maintenance page for a short period, while I verify the fix is solid.

I must be doing something wrong when I added the lines.
I downloaded a fresh copy of vert 2.2 and made the additions but when I used /loadskin in game the default skin kept coming up. :(

You would think if they are going to add a skin select window to the UI they would be a little more user friendly with the patches :)

Did you guys try doign the old style of loading the skin. Ie. /loadskin <name> 1

also another suggestion is to check your default folder for 2 files
EQUI.XML and Sidl.XML. Then copy those 2 files to your Vert mod folder. Then go in game and do the old style of loading skins.

Got my Vert Nexium to run again with a fresh install and the abovementioned piece of coding. I was about to fix other Verts I have (every char has their own color :D) but the patch hit while I was reinstalling them.

Just want to let everyone know (especially those using my 'screen-wrapped' UI), that my UI has survived yet another patch without any major issues. There are a few minor cosmetic problems which are listed below.

- Backgrounds may not appear the same as before (green texture will be replaced with old stone texture). This is due to changes in the EQUI_Animations.xml (Animations) file. ** No longer an issue in the latest version

- Spell gems may appear to be a bit off in size and placement. This is also due to changes in the Animations file. ** No longer an issue in the latest version

There may be a few other minor cosmetic flaws that I have not yet noticed, but for the most part, my UI has once again avoided the patch assassin.

** Note: If you are using my modified compass, your UI may not load due to a duplication in 'UiD2Animations'. This has been addressed and a new version is available which prevents this from occurring in the future.

down loaded one of these fixs .. here some where and it worked for the Vert 2.1 and the 2.2 versions ...
but i like toi use the old version and one have a fix for that one?

I load up EQ to try out Corm'snew UI.. I load it up.. it comes up as the default UI.. I try to load another 1.. It does the same thing.. ALL my skins load up as default skin.. Why? I can't play EQ like that!!! lol

Those are the errors i get.. but funny thing is..

I made a copy of default folder and put the new mod in it.. and it STILL gave me those errors...

Keldrane try this,

1. Delete your default folder, repatch EQ but dont play the game.
2. If you still have the zip version of your current UI and any add ons you might have put in it. Rename your UI folder name and then unzip your Mod into the name you used to call it.
3. Now Run EQ.
4. When you go on in your character if your old UI doesnt work then type /loadskin <UIName> 1 (like you would the old way)

I have yet to get the loadskin window to work.
If you still have problems leave game and go to your default directory and copy these 2 files to your UI Folder:
EQUI.xml
Sidl.xml

Then retry running EQ and follow steps 4 if needed listed above.

or use the /loadskin customskinname 1 command in game.
looks to me like he tried the menu selection via the new window.
I got the same error it doesnt supply a skin name even tho you selected it from the list.

This should be a VI bug.

You can get by that by going back to the old /loadskin name command from the chatwindow.

Are you trying to use the Loadskin window? Don't bother with it if you are. Just use /loadskin <skinname> 1

Also make sure you do have the newUI turned on.

From your post, it looks as if you are not putting your skin in the right place. Inside the 'uifiles' folder, make a new folder ('Canopy' for instance). Then unzip the UI you downloaded into that new folder. Then when you enter Everquest, type /loadskin Canopy 1 or replace 'Canopy' with whatever you want to call the new folder.

Well I got the Canopy one to work.. but all the other ones are out of date.. Thanks.. Whats so special about the Canopy one? Its same as your old one just new color on the boxes right?

the 'Canopy' version is the same layout and design as my previous versions, yes. The differences are:

1) I gave it an actual name for once,
2) I changed the color scheme (altho the colors were actually changed some time ago),
3) previous releases used an altered EQUI_Animations.xml file, this latest version uses it's own Animations file and it's own Template file so that future patches and changes to the UI by Varent will not effect the functionality of this skin, and
4) the compass mod was causing crashes in some cases because it was duplicating animations that were also found in the EQUI_Animations.xml file.

This new release has been structured in such a way that, if Varent makes further changes to the UI by adding more windows, or changing any of the animations, textures, or templates, those changes will not effect my skin because 'Canopy' uses all of it's own textures, animations, and templates instead of relying upon the default files.

I found that if you are having problems with the loadskin mod if you turn off newui and /loadskin default 1 then log out and let the patch of 10/16 do its thing log into eq and do /newui and log out you loadskin pop and some of them will not do on the loadskin key you have to type it. and if you get nothing you /loadskin default 1 then it should pop silly and time consuming but i find it to work most of the time

I am using Rytains newest ui. While things<so far> seem to be working correctly - I get a error when logging in and after zoning. It states something like Some of your XML files are not compatible bla bla bla type /loadskin default to return to the default skin.

What can I do to fix this??

quick question, after you open xml file by using wordpad, when i click to save it, it says you are saving in text format ... is that ok? Still cant get vert to work for some reason :(


someone please telling me what im doing wrong!

I freshly downloaded vert crystal meth.

opened the animations file with word pad

copy and pasted the code, at the very end of xml before the /xml

save it, it says "you are about to save in a text format, this will remove all formatting" i click yes

Run eq, and type /loadskin filename 1 , and it goes to default

any suggestions please?
