Too many texture files?
Hey gang! So I've been working on a new UI, mostly for personal use, so I really haven't given much thought to how large the thing would be to download. I'm worried about all the texture files I've created causing lag. See, I've made 12-frame animations for the flyby effect, and it comes down to 150 individual buttons I have to cram in for the ten hotkeys to animate on the hotbutton window. I've spread that across four 256x256 images. Then I have two more 256x256 images for the left and right arrows and their respective animations, and a final 256x256 image for the background. So now I have 7 image files for one window.
I guess I'm just curious to know if anyone has noticed that a point where you begin lagging due to loading too many texture images. Thoughts? |
any ui with alot of images on the screen will make you lag if you dont have the memory for it, or if your vidio card is crud..
