I agree these would make awesome spell icons!!!

is there a faq detailing how one makes custom Spell icons any where? I'm tempted to try to create this myself. :0

I usually fon't like unike spell icons but these look like something i'd use. their verty cool looking yest simple so you tell what spell is waht on the fly like the current ones.

Does anyone know where I can get a complete image list of the Icewind Dale II Spell Icons? I've looked and looked around the internet, as I would like to give this a try, but can't find much other than what is posted here, which is only a small portion of the actual icons.

Work Begun

I've begun work on creating Icewind Dale II spell icons. I'll post a preview when I get a little more done. Wish me luck.

I hate to say this... Those icons would be covered by the copyright of the company who owns Icewind Dale. As such the posting of their icons would be illegal and this site should not allow that.

so were the warcraft 3 icons that are used by me and many others. If they really want to pitch a bitch let them bit I really dont think any thing bad would come form it.

I was worried about that too, but then I figured that since the Warcraft 3 stuff is all over the place, it should be ok to use Icewind Dale stuff too. Same type of use, and no one has had any problems with the warcraft 3 stuff, or various other images used in the UI's that were undoubtedly not created by the UI poster.

My thoughts exactly:cool:

So under that thought ... I can come to your house after someone else breaks in and robs you and then take whatever I want

Please post your address... Thank you :)

ok that is true with that though. I like my first though. I think these fall under the title of fan art. And with fan art the ideas of the original are protected, but the use of them on a free fanart idea they are allowed to.

I think what I am really trying to point out is that fan art is not infringing on copyrights of the original. If it was you could never draw a picture of lets say Goku from Dragon Ball series with out paying money to the people who own him (dont remember the spelling of the guy's name and not even going to try :) )

Why do I bring this up... My sister does art works and have found her whole web site design "borrowed" by a number of people and even sites that sell items that she sells in her store.

Copyright is just that, a RIGHT... Fair use is one thing and the mods here do provide function and look and feel that people like in other games. But, this MUST be balanced with "fair use" and that means if the it belongs to someone else or a company then you need to follow the rules.

Tobin,

here is what EQI, and EQGUI is using for its rule of thumb on this..

1. If Blizzard, Interplay, or any other company contacts us about something they see here then we will look into it further

2. As long as no one is trying to charge for "WC3 Icons" or "ID2 Icons" there is really no benifit to big companies to complain much, its free advertising..

3. We ask everyone to credit artwork that is not orginal by them. This falls under rull 1, that if we find out that someone is using these images and did not give credit, again we will look into it further..

Please do not start a debate over copywrite laws, Its not good for the board and useless for the purposes of this thread. If someone releases a nice set of Icewind Dale Icons, I am all for it.. its creative and could look very good.

Thanks for your concern...

be safe!

Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info Kudane, I was starting to feel a little singed. I would, of course, give credit to the original artist for anything that wasn't mine, and would always discontinue use if an issue arose.
