EverQuest Tutorial - There HAS to be a way
My train of thought (very possibly flawed):
In the very first release of EQ you could see yourself in the inventory. This was also seen in the tutorial. The tutorial is a standalone application. What says you can't find the files in the tutorial.exe to generate this inventory view client-side? These are the files in the tutorial: bmpwad.s3d bmpwad2.s3d dbg.txt gequip.s3d global_chr.s3d mss32.dll mssa3d.m3d mssds3dh.m3d mssds3ds.m3d msseax.m3d mssrsx.m3d sky.s3d snd3.pfs snd4.pfs snd5.pfs snd6.pfs snd12.pfs Soandso.opt spdat.eff spells.eff stdat.eff tutorial.dat tutorial.exe tutorial.s3d tutorial_obj.s3d tutorial_sndbnk.eff tutorial_sounds.eff Any thoughts on my thoughts?!! |
EQ Tutorial
I remember I had to add in more files to the tutorial folder, from the EverQuest folder, to get it to run at one time.
On Windows 7, it asks for the d3drm.dll file, which I placed in my C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder since I am on a 64bit computer. Runs fine after that once you get the dialog box to show to use the primary driver. On Windows 8, do the same thing but you will need to set the exe file to compatibility mode for Windows 7. Try downloading my EQTutorial.zip file and see if that works for you. I just tried it and I dont have any problems with the inventory. I placed the D3DRM folder in there in case you need the files, and also a backup of the original tutorial folder that I had long ago. DOWNLOAD EQTutorial.zip |
I apologize, I guess I wasn't clear enough. My tutorial is working fine :o
I was thinking it may be possible to steal whatever file(s) are making the self-view ragdoll window (seen in inventory) in the tutorial, work in the current game (P99 to be exact). It's just a hunch, I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I'm no programmer. Thanks Drakah |
