Tablets UI 2.0

IMPORTANT NOTE
There is currently no one updating this UI set. If anyone would like to take it over, please send me a Private Message and we'll discuss what updating it entails and other important information.

If you post feature requests/UI errors, they will not be fixed. No one is working on Tablets anymore. If I don't have someone step up within a week after the next UI breaking patch is released, I will consider the UI dead and have it closed down.

Tablets v2.15

Now updated by Caetenne. Not much has changed, a lot of the original mods are not updated, and won't be until requested. I still have them in my deprecated file folder, and will ressurrect them upon request.

New to 2.15
  • Up to date with the the most recent UI patch
  • Inventory window now using the default until I can find the crash
  • A couple of new mods: A selecot window replacement with shows tribute numbers, and a hotkey variant with the 2-4 banks horizontal
  • A couple of missing/incorrect buttons here and there were fixed
  • Cursors are back
  • Swtiched the compass back to the default size to fix alignment problems

Installation

If you don't want to use an INI skip 1,4,5
The ini's set the windows up different ways.. I hope the name of the files
are descriptive enough :)

1. Set your resolution in EQ for the INI you are gonna use..
2. Create a new folder in UIFILES
3. Unzip Files to the folder
4. Copy one of the .INIs into your main eq folder
5. Rename it UI_YourToonName_ServerName.ini (ex. UI_Hawkren_Lanys.ini would be me)
6. Load EQ.
7. Type /loadskin. The Loadskin window will open.
8. Look for foldername
9. Make sure "Use INI" is depressed
10. Press "Load Skin"
11. Enjoy!

To Install a Mod

1. Copy contents of the folder of the mod you wish to install to your main tablets directory (Overwrite All)
2. If ingame reload skin
3. Enjoy!

Wonderful job! Thanks for all your hard work =)

paligon 03-13-2005 08:26 AM

it would be great if you could add the pet buffs in a tab on the pet window but overall nice UI

Here's what's on my to-do list (with what's top on my list):
  • Add a mail icon to the actions window on the character info page for those (like me) who don't use the window selector - soon
  • Make a more vertical version of the pet window as a mod - near future
  • Make the standard pet window tabbed for buttons/buffs - near future
  • Fix the map and re-include it - not soon

The original Tablets had a ton of mods like right aligned buffs, clear label and such. Any chance those might get added? And when I loaded the UI the buff names are cut off. I use 1024x768 and Voice of Clairvoyance just says Voice..And a Maelin's Meditation clicky says just Maelin's..If you get a chance a fix would be awesome and greatly appreciated.

Tell me which mods you want and I'll update them if they need it and put them up. I didn't include them with the new release because I don't use them and didn't have the time to test them all. My main focus with this release version was to get a working version put up. The bonus stuff will come over the next little bit. I'm only going to be fixing stuff that I get requests for, as I don't see the point in fixing something that no one uses.

As for the buff names getting cut off, I have no choice. With 25 buff slots available, the amount of space required to show full names is huge, and I had to strike a balance somewhere. I tried to keep the buff window roughly the same size as it was before.

Caetenne you really are wonderful. im very glad to hear you will be changing the pet window. im having one small problem... im getting the default sword and shield picture in my inventory window instead of the class related one i had before  . do you know what might be causing that? also when you get to the mods please include the large map window. thanks so much!! :nana:

Macinstine 03-14-2005 04:49 PM

If your still taking request.

I use the buff icons on the right side with names.
Reversed hot keys. Inventory left hot keys right
Large map. The small one never worked right for me.
Small compass. I don't think you need to do anything to it but included it in the folder.
The inventory with stats. I just like it better.

May the Lord Bless you for the kindness you are doing.

This is already on my list.

Probably just a reinclude, I'll look at it.

The map is a lot of work, and it on the to-do list, but won't be ready for a bit yet.

Another likely reinclude.

Not needed, but thank you for the sentiment.

You should get the default map if you deleted your old Tablets directory and unzipped the new version to your UI folder. I had to delete the Map out of the version I shipped until I update it. If you are just overwriting files in your current Tablets folder, you will still have the broken MapWindow XML file.

The compass that comes with the UI is way off when you get an ldon or don mission. I tried loading the smaller one and when I cast true north it's pointing to NW. I removed all 3 compass files and loaded up the old ones from the prior Tablets release and it seems to be right on casting true north. Haven't done a mission to test the line yet.

Ok, I'll look at this too.

Just Wanted to Say...

Just wanted to say that Tablet 2.0 is really exceptional work! There are a lot of heavy graphic intense ones, but this is by far the best balance of functionality and looks! I am so glad that you took this UI over and are updating it! Your work on this is greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!!!

Making Mods on Tablet Using SIDLWIDL/FIDDLE

Caetenne,
I was going to make some mods for Tablet 2.0 using either SIDLWIDL or Fiddle, but for whatever reason neither one will load Tablet 2.0, Future Purple to be exact. I was just curious why this was. The error details that both programs gives doesn't explain very well why this is.

Thanks

----edit------
I figured a work-a-round. I move the graphics and the ui piece that I want to modify to a new folder, edit using SIDLWIDL and then move it back into the Tablet's folder.

I have just updated the pet window to include pet buffs at the bottom of it. To do this though I had to change the font size of the char stats down one size. I did this to try and keep everything the same size for lining up purposes on the "bottom" based ui. When I get home tonight, I will run it and if it looks okay, I will send it to Caetenne for her review, etc.

I couldn't tell you why those tools don't like Tablets. I do all my editing in Notepad, so I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Caetenne 03-19-2005 05:24 PM

New version with most of the mods readded and a couple of new ones made as well put up, pending approval.

mareeuh 03-20-2005 03:08 PM

Is it possible to adjust the names of buffs so that they are shown completely. Not Hastening of........ I like seeing the entire name of the buffs. If the bar needs to be larger that would be fine. As long as it's in proportion to the rest of the UI.

I can make the buff bars wider, but it would have to be very wide for the whole name to fit. It's just a symptom of there being 25 buffs now, and still the same amount of screen space. I can try a wider buff window, but I can't guarantee if it will look much better.

Caetenne 03-22-2005 09:07 PM

I've looked at the class animations and nothing looks wrong. I'm going to have to look at it a lot more and possibly consult with someone else to get it figured out, so it's a backburner item for now.

Macinstine 04-02-2005 06:22 PM

Been a while any progress on the up dates?

Not complaining all the stuff works that I need. Just not exactly the way I like. :p

I was so spoiled by all the old mods.

Thank you again for keeping tablets going.

I haven't had a chance recently, had a really hectic raid schedule trying to break into Tacvi and other fun stuff. We won, so now things might not be as nuts. I'll be working on some stuff today and this week. The map is still on the back burner, but the inventory window with stats I'll do really soon.

EDIT: Now with new inventory window goodness.

Vaanoor 04-20-2005 07:03 PM

Tablets works great and nearly does everything I want (I took the code from another skin part and put a tribute timer on the actions window).

edited to chop out the part about the player buff bar, looks like I had an older version.

Above I see Syberwired was testing a pet window that includes a buff bar -- any chance it is ready? hehe and any chance I could get one that does not have a dismiss button? When I want to get rid of my pet I tell it to leave.

I like the new inventory screen 8) Nice work!

Anyone have an idea of update to get it up to date? I keep getting xml messages... still works... but missing the new titles and soon the new vetran AA's I would imagine..

Any hints on how to fix it? (and no I am not XML literate)

Can you please tell me what XML error messages you are getting? I don't get any at all.

New patch released for todays EQLive update, see the second post on the front page for download info.

Followup to this:

It appears I misunderstood how many buff slots will actually be available. DoN progression actually only adds 1 new slot. So, I'm going to respace out the buffslots again and make them bigger so more text can be seen. I will do this by the weekend, and then post new zips with this included and every other fix I've made.

TBHockey 05-12-2005 07:40 AM

Thanks for keeping this UI Alive, I have been using it since March 2004 and when DoN came out was afraid we weren't going to see updates.

Tried others Like Lodi, and a few others but this is so clean to use. Again thanks.
