I have a question about Accounts, I have 2 PC's and my housing district is finally going to get High Speed DSL in my area. I only use one computer for EQ on a gimp modem and there is no way in hell i was going to let my wife get an EQ account on our gimpy modems that she has.

With the DSL otw she now wants me to set up an account for her so that she can join me online.

So my question, Do i have re-buy a complete new set of CD's for her or can i use my CD's for install and then open her an account?

I am just trying to save the added cost altho i believe im gonna spend a butt load of greenbacks for more CD's.

You need to buy the CDs all over again... since the CD Key is account dependant...

Or if you want to start her out with something you could always look to see if anyone is considering getting out of EQ (why I don't know... they must be crazy) and purchase thier account from them.

If you do that route, you will need Account Name, Password, and CD Keys... you will always need the CD Keys to prove you are who you are to EQ CS if you ever loose your account, or suspect it of Hacking...

How much is EQgold edition? Doesnt that have all the expansions in it?

EQ Gold was 69.99, I've seen it as low as 49.95

it has all expansions through POP if I'm not mistaken... its what I got my wife once she stopped nagging me, and came to look at what I was doing on the computer :-)

as well as my Mother-in-Law so when I play I have half a party all set... well its usually my PLing a Paladin or War (wife) and a Bard or Cleric (M-i-L) on the rare occasions we all play together.. I'm an SK or Rogue

If (read when) you get the router, make sure you configure it properly. EQ Live finally has a help/faq for it. Otherwise you will get very frustrated with LD every 20 minutes or so. (supposedly fixed by Linksys, but I don't believe them)

WHOA Whack - Linksys. Yuppers read the faq on this cuz you WILL go LD every 20 mins if you dont'

Bottom line - ALL Ports 1023 - 65534 must be open.
caveat: If someone in your house uses an IM client or MUDD, block those ports (4242 for AIM I think) on the stations that DONT use IM or MUDDs. We stopped a ton of LD with that extra step.

This is what I was told...
 

When I set up my Linksys router. I was told to do the following.

Log in your Linksys router

Click on Advance
Click on Forwarding
Click on Port Triggering (at the bottom)

and type in the following in the ports (see image)



Then click apply and then close the window and your all ready to go!

And from that point I never had a LD again. :D

I bought EQ Gold for 49.95 at Best Buy. So you could do Amazon.com if you want to order it online.. Or you may want to drive down to the local Best Buy and see if they have it then.. Save yourself waiting a few days hehe.

Edit was for changing Eq Cold = EQ Gold... I guess here in Wisconsin I am just cold alot...
