I hope this isn't a dumb question

I really hope that this isn't a dumb question, however I just started messing around with UI's. I made a simple targeting ring, I first created a template sized 260pxl x 2048pxl, as my background, then proceeded to create different layers which I manipulate. I create the template and layers with Microsoft Picture It simply because it is a lot easier to manipulate the layers than my Photoshop CS.

After I am satisfied with what I have I then save the templates to Photoshop in the tga format. However this results in a file that is about 1.5 megs in size, which is far to large to upload. How the heck can I make the tga files smaller in size say around 150 Kb? I save the tga files which are 260 pxl by 2048 pxl at a resolution of 72 pxl.

What am I doing wrong?

why a resolution of 260 x 2048 pxl?
i mean the 2048 is more than exaggerated for a texture for a targetring. :D

I think you are misreading what I am saying the image size is 260 by 2048 with a resolution of 72. The 260 by 2048 seems to be a standard size for the Targeting ring tga image files. I found instruction on how to create them and the size that was recommended was 260 by 2048. Just that at this size and resolution each tga image saves at 1.5 meg which when you have 96 such files saved is so far above the maximum zipped file size EQInterface sets for uploading that it is redicules. Even saving the tga's to a compressed size I had to change my frame count from 16 to 8 just to be able to upload it.

I was just wondering if there was a way to control the size of the image files.

Try saving it as a PNG file... I think there may be a pluggin out there for photoshop to allow you to save in PNG format.

Also.. the targeting ring I use is 64k.. and it's 256x256

I haven't messed with targeting rings.. but 1.5megs is rediculous.
