So... do you like the new login interface?

I rather like the more streamlined login interface... but I'm still nostalgic for the original loading picture! :p If they made a new login interface, why isn't there a new patcher? Do you guys like/approve of this new login system?

Cairenn 05-19-2004 08:55 AM

Like it. Liked it on Test, glad to see it Live.

what new login???

~EDIT~ I see it now, very slick, i hope it can be modded

A little small and dark but a least its not flipping through 3 differnt video resolutions now to get to the char screen.

I like it, just wished they had made quick load character specific, like SWG and DAoC has.

The options system is crap though, clicking options, start an external program, that is a simple window program and not part of the "style" of the new login look.

yeck .. eula still there after 5yrs. even if you in window it takes whole screen. alful dark with small lettering.

yah thats something they really cant remove. You see that with every online game like EQ though.

I like the quick login feature. The interface is kinda nice now since it uses the same resolution you use in the game.

It also looks like it may be possible to mod the login area.

EQLSUI files are in the ui folder, they should be moddable.

Parasite 05-19-2004 02:42 PM

Yup they are moddable.. but the modded files need to be in the default directory.
You need to create something like
- EQLSUI_custom.xml
- EQLSUI_Animations_custom.xml
then define the new background in the animations xml, and then define the eqlsPlayerData.ini to use the custom EQLSUI_custom.xml file.

I already modded a prototype login for my guild. Here's a preview~

I hope my description wasnt too much of "blabla" and you can understand what I mean.~:D

Is there any way to get rid of the seizure warning? I could see that getting annoying...

Only thing I do not like about it is that it means EQW needs to be fixed again ><

For legal liability reasons, SoE has to have that warning appear during every login session. In fact, they can't even put in the possibility of removing it. Otherwise I can just imagine somebody saying in a lawsuit "It's not my fault I had a seizure using EQ after I had disabled the seizure warning. It's SOE's fault for making it possible for me to disable the warning, therefore I wasn't informed of the seizure warning, therefore SOE is financially liable for my seizure."

U can remove all the extra windows

U are able to remove all the extra windows by altering the *.*ini files.

There are locations within each file that have the 1 or 0 listing on whether a screen will be shown.

I think the new Login screen is VERY awesome as it is. Great job SOE.

Now just hope they take a look at the idea I had for the new patcher =)

I think putting it on the box or only showing it once is enough. So far its only appeared once for me, but if they start displaying it every time then I will get annoyed. There is already too much clicking just to enter a game.

My mouse also loses focus, where I have to click, then click again and move the mouse again from the upper left corner. (on the first screen)
