The cause of the problem does indeed lie with the XP structure. XP maintains a software registration inventory. In other words - only programs developed for XP and specifically certified by Microsoft for use with XP are included in this list. Programs not on this list tend to generate intermittant errors for no apparent reason even though they run fine on other OS.

SOE had indicated about 9 months ago they were working on XP certification for their code, but this would only apply to whats on the CD's. The problem with EQ specifically is that SOE is constantly patching new DLL and EXE files and each version has a different GUID. So how can the XP certification list on a computer keep up with the EQ patches? XP can't and errors are result.

SOE may be evil but they are angels compared to Microsoft.
