Glitchy graphics, and crashes

I decided that I didn't like the bland greyness that is EQ's default UI look, so I went in and editted the graphic files. Doing nothing but changing the look of the stuff, for example, the buttons, I get extremely glitched graphics (think stretched out lines of say, the yellow colour) and I crash when I try to camp, or when I try to /loadskin ingame.
Anyone have any idea what this could be caused by?
