Notepad is good enough. All you need to do is change the EQType for the InvSlot you are talking about.
If you can be more specific about what exactly you need, we can help you more. You just need to find the exact InvSlot you need to change and change one number around.
Range is InvSlot EQType 11. Legs are InvSlot EQType 18.
All known EQtypes are in a post in the Info Vault here:

Hope that helps a bit.

"It[1] will not let me click on it[2]."
Can you replace it 1 and it 2 with the actual thing you're talking about?
[Windows Explorer] will not let you click on the [EQUI_HotButtonWnd.xml]?
Something like that please *Grin*

Doh ! Sorry
When i open my uifiles folder, and go into hotbutton i click on
<Background>something here about eqprange</Background>
it will not let me change it to legs, then i click on this
<EQType>11</EQType>
and try and change it to the legs slot which is 18, it just will plain not let me change it. Like it is a protected file.

Ah ha! When you "open" that file, you're opening it inside Internet Explorer more than likely. This is read only and just looks pretty to view. Instead, right click on it and choose Open with and use Notepad to open it. Then you can change things.
Hope that helps.
