Default NO UI's showing

Hello,

I tried downloading 2 Ui's for EQ and when I log into game only the default UI show's nothing else.

I followed the instructions.

I also have vista.

Any ideas?

the 2 UI's I used are Clean & Clear and Old_default

Need to make sure the UI files are under \Everquest\uifiles\UI Name

UI Name is whatever you want the UI called. Make sure inside the UI Name Folder (whatever you call it) is all the files for that UI. They cannot be deeper in another subfolder. The one I use Drakah's Default old, creates its own default_old folder, so you would just select the UIFiles folder to extract to.

For instance if you unzip a default_old UI, inside the \Everquest\UIFiles folder you should see both a Default folder & a Default_Old folder, both of which will have files in them, but no other folders inside them.

Thats what I figured. Zip files will not be seen by the UI window ingame. The file has to be in a regular folder. It must be located in your uifiles folder inside everquest.

Do this when you open your zipped downloaded folder it should have one folder inside it correct?

Just drag that folder to your desktop then copy and paste it inside the uiflies folder in everquest. Then you should be good to go.

If the zipped file has a ton of files in it then make a UI subfolder named what ever you want and put those files in it and then place that subfolder in the uifiles folder.

Also a small thing that has gotten me before. Make sure there are no spaces in the name of the UI. So Drakah old will not show but Drakah_old will

I like to thank everyone for their help, but still no luck.

I tried loading a UI with my laptop just to make sure I was doing it right and it worked fine.

My laptop is XP, my desktop is vista.

could it be because I have vista?

Thanks again....

Danille,

thanks for your help.

Still no change. I've tried everything. Must be something with vista. Works on my laptop fine with XP.

I tried searching the EQ forums, but no luck there either.

guess I will keep searching.

Sometimes with Vista it's a matter of where you have EQ installed. If you have it under Program Files, try moving it to just c:/ or c:/Sony and recreate your desktop shortcut, then run it from the new location and try loading your UI of choice.

after some work I was able to move the EQ folder to....

C:/sony/everquest.

Log into game and ............. no change.

Do you or anyone else have any other hints or ideas?

Again, thanks for everyone's help.

Okay, just to be absolutely sure, you should have folders stacked like so:

C:
Sony ( inside C: )
EverQuest ( inside Sony )
uifiles ( inside EverQuest )
- Default ( inside uifiles )
- [ New UI Name ] ( inside uifiles )

The Default and New UI folders should both contain a bunch of files, some with identical names to the opposite folder ( in other words, same names in both Default and New UI ). There should NOT be any additional, deeper folders inside these two, just the needed files.

If that's the case and it's still not showing up I have no idea what's going on. I use Vista now and it gave me a lot of trouble getting things set up to even run, but no trouble with the UI's. I'm assuming you've done the 'Run as Administrator' and 'XP Service Pack 2 Compatibility' adjustments already. In any case, good luck.

Quick question. Are you actually trying to load the UI once in game, or just expecting it to automatically be in the custom UI when you log in?

I'm having the same problem.. I've been using Emil 10 for a long time and I just got a new computer with Vista and installed EQ on it. I downloaded the UI file and set it up like I always did on my laptop, with XP, where it worked fine. I click Load UI from options and all that shows up is the default one. I've tried everything mentioned here and none of it worked. I tried installing Sars and that didn't work either, so it isn't just Emil. Any ideas?

If you have EQ installed under Program Files somewhere, you will probably want to move it. Some people use c:\sony or c:\games on Vista. Then try adding the custom UI folder again & testing.
