error loading mods
so i downloaded 3 new window setups that i want to try out, and i made a directory named mod with all the files that are in the default directory. replace the 3 i want, fire up eq and /loadskin tells me i can pick "default" or "mod". so i do a /loadskin mod and it reverts to default setting (i lose all my changes since first log in) and says something like:
error loading "mod\" trying to load default
at this point i make a back up of the default directory and name it test. /loadskin test
error loading "test\" trying to load default
loadskin default works no problems
why is it adding a \ to the names?
what am i doing wrong?

Don't worry about the slash, its just letting you know its trying to read the files inside it.
Check out UIErrors.txt in your EQ directory for what error it is coming up with.

Where abouts are you making a copy of the default diectory. Any ui's that you make are loaded from <EQDirectory>\uifiles so your mod one should be <EQDirectory>\uifiles\mod
I'm not sure why the error log is empty, the only time this happens is if you load up EQ and have a successful load of a UI.

I have same problem.
To get it to work again I have to delete the uifiles\*default*\SIDSL.xml and EQUI.xml files.
Maybe even UI_username file.
Rather annoying

I had the same problem till i found out i had everquest loaded on both my C and D drives so i had duplicate files on both drives and everquest got confused. please look for identical files in your drives. the easyest way i found was to do a search of a file and see if it has different directories.
Good Luck

EQDirectory>\uifiles\mod
is exactly where i have my mods stored
where <eq directory> is the default install location
did a search and all i had on other drives were some old shortcuts on my e drive, deleted them just in case.
