Thanks!! This works great for my UI (Sars). One question though, how can I change the new mouse pointer back to the old custom one?

custom pointer
I cant get my cutsom pointer to work either. I'm always losing the damn default cursor in all the lighting effects from spells. Since I normally play a chanter losing the cursor means 2-5 extra seconds to mez adds. I want my swordpointer cursor back but dont see a way to do it.

Must have the _old suffix
The one thing I would add... It seems that you can't just rename your new file anything, it seems that you need the _old suffix for your UI to be recognized. Other than that your fix worked. Thanks much for the help.

_old
I can confirm that it seems you need to rename it to newname_old. I tried with just the name test and it wouldn't work. Then I used newui_old and it worked.
I have another problem. I am forced to use windowed mode because in full screen my mouse locks up and goes to the upper left corner of the screen. Anyone know how to unlock the mouse? I hate widow mode and hope that they haven't eliminated this as a choice.
Dexar.

Actually.... Must be one word
Actually... It's not the _old it's the fact that it has to be one word... I had named mine New UI... the name has to be one word. Having done a reasonable amount of modding before I should have known better... but yeah, your name must be one word or your UI will not be recognized.

or
Or maybe you do need the _old... I did not actually try it w/o the _old. But you definately can't use two words for your name either, I'm pretty sure.

Tried shift+alt+r? That is what freed up the mouse in windowed mode to allow you to access the desktop once more. Maybe they switched something around without realizing.

It will only repatch if you make any modifications to "default" or "default_old". You should make a copy of these if you wish to modify them, like the poster instructed (make a copy of default_old, then place your custom UI files INTO this new folder).
For those having issues displaying your new UI folder, it may not contain any spaces. ("my new ui" will not work, but "my_new_ui" would work)

No, because it will not patch any folder with a name other than default or default_old (guessing on that), which yours would not be.

Added the info about no spaces in the folder name and the cursor info from the patch message.

Help!
Before I logged in I made a copy of my UI_Baadan_saryrn.ini file, just in case.
I logged in to see the new UI, it had taken over my old custom one, but my "custom" window positioning was still there. I did the copy default_old and rename thing no sweat.
However, somewhere after that I did something wrong with the loading and the 1 on the end and the Keep Your Layout button blah blah and ended up losing my "custom" window positioning.
How do I get back that positioning? I have a copy of the prepatch UI file, but I can't figure out how to rescue the window positions.
Thanks
