3 hours is a good time. There was a long stint where for some reason it was taking over 30 hors for me to process one unit. Ever since I reformatted and clean installed on that system, it has picked up.
I actually have Seti installed on 1-3 of my 3 machines at any given time, though only one of them is it ever permanent. It is a PII 450mhz with 384mb RAM.

Eh I'm running it on my Athlon XP 2400, but I always have a slew of other things going, too. I figure we'll find ET some day, got a pretty good group going here at eqinterface so far... hopefully more users catch on.

I jumped in on this too since my print server was just kind of sitting there doing nothing for 99.9% of the time. Its running on a P3 1Ghz with 512Mb of ram.
EDIT: Oh well...have it running on my main machine also...3.06Ghz (with HTT), 1Gb of ram and a 128 Geforce 4. So far I have processed 27% in 1 hour with EQ running the whole time.

You know to optimize your output with SETI, you should never actually run the SETI screen saver? Whenever the display is opened it acually slows down the processing time to draw the picture. 8)

yes I know, I just saw that on the SETI site.. thought it was funny.. when SETI is running i normally use the PS AX protocall and kill all unneeded processes. trying to get under 6 hours, but so far no luck.

Woot - has been awhile since I have been logged into Seti - had almost forgotten they existed. Well, I am back in the "alien" community and have joined the team

<--- Seti Virgin
(I bet they are just having us render **** movies and it has nothing to do with analyzing radio freq.)
Just signed up and got it running on my home server for now... 2.4ghz Xeon (Dual cpu capable looking for another cheap 2.4 Xeon) & 1gb ram. I got a few other 2+ghz systems i could have it run as screen saver on.

If you are interested in SETI
then you may enjoy the pictures on this site
http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html
Some of these photos are incredibly beautiful. They post a new one every day.
SETI is all about number crunching and so does slow down when displayed. I have SETI to run in the background all the time but never as a screen saver. SETI is well behaved and does not interfere with much of anything. SETI gets it work done when I am AFK overnight and such. Also, SETI will run on multiple machines at once. I have run it on all 3 computers on my home LAN for years without any problems.
