Hmmmm... like the melee equivalent of a wizard? Interesting concept... maybe a class that relies heavily/entirely on the new abilities/disciplines/whathaveyou, making them dependent on their Endurance pool in the same way a wizard is dependent on mana? A meleer that sits out half or more of the fight, wading in near the end to 'go berserk' and finish an opponent off? A melee class that deals lots of damage but little to no defense?

(Wait, that's a ranger... or is it a rogue...)

Of course... that just begs for a Clarity-type spell line that offers increasing rates of endurance regeneration, doesn't it?

Well the new class would be perfectly timed with the new Melee System Enhancements idea...

I'm suspecting that this might just be something they're doing to entice people to come onto the Test server and try out whatever new abilities get set up there. Then afterwards, the class disappears and warriors get all the new stuff that pans out during all the play on Test.

It might also be that only Verant people can use the new class, if they don't have their own non-public test servers anymore.

Default Play on test

I have an account on test that I play quite often, and when I logged in the other day after reading these changes, the only thing I have noticed so far is there is a new "buff" box called Combat Abilities. Have hailed several NPC's in my hometown but have not found anything interesting as of yet. Will post more as It comes about on test.

There already is... Clerics, Beastlords and Shaman get it... its commonly called Zing... the Shaman Skyfire Boots have it as a right click on it... now if I could only remember what its really called... also there is a spell that grants vision... UV, See Invis, but it also puts a clarity type effect on your endurance bar (the yellow bar that disappears when you jump alot) called Acumen its a 56 (I believe) shaman spell... I've used it for long long runs across Norath. Bih'Li, Acumen and Invis and this Iksar can run anywhere

The spell your thinking of does not have a constant refresh rate, its a one shot refresh of stamina not Endurance. Endurance is a *NEW* stat that is being added with the new combat system.. sooo what Nylok said is true, we will most likely see a whole new line of endurance spells, OR see endurance refresh added to a current spell (sustained)

My impression of Endurance from what I read is it will be a mana pool for Melee, they will have skills that require endurance and endurance will be a slow recovery (such as mana is).. this *DOES* offer a very good balance.. if done correctly.

we will find out for sure tonight.

Acumen Description, links to Acumen.. its a Vision and stamina buff... it doesn't actually give +sta points... just +sta regen... next time you are in combat fighting a long fight and see your yellow bar dropping, ask your friendly neighborhood shaman for this little spell and you'll never have to worry about slowing down the Vegomatic dual wielding again :-)

Acumen does refresh the yellow bar, but what Kudane is saying its going to be different bar like now you have a yellow sta bar blue mana bar now you'll have something like green endurance bar. So if you want all three bars to be buffed with a refresher you'll need kei, accumen, and (input new spell here).Which with me being a pally now i'm going to be running around going anyone casting kei and looking for someone casting my endurance buff. Hopefully it will be a spell a chanter can cast that way they can be my one stop shop.

Soooo you a can buff for fatigue all you want.. as of right now at 2:30pm PST they have not announced what the new Endurance stat will be based on. and Like mana which is based on Int or Wis, there are spells that SPECIFICALLY recover Mana... Sooo I expect when they explain Endurance further you will find Endurance based recover spells.. or Endurance recovery added to spells

does all that make sense now???

the only difference here would be it would be a maybe once or twice a fight the 'berserking' would occur, rangers and rogues do constant damage the whole fight. i.e. back stabbing the whold fight or shooting arrows that crit for 3k every time....

I think thats the idea there Zanta...

but don't hold me to that... but let me give you the obvious clues.. eheheheh

1. things released to test are usually generally less than 6 weeks of completion (anyone beta the froglok? they went on test 4 or 5 weeks before expansion was released)

2. New expansions get thier own test server to prevent leaking of info (such as we are seeing).. Adding the Berzerk title to character creation blew the lid wide open

3. the new Endurance pool sounds like a melee mana pool, here is a good quote from Absor
Quote:
This new system is much more flexible than the existing disciplines. It will be relatively easy to add new combat skills, as well as new skills that are not limited to openings. This system creates the possibility for tremendous enhancement in the future, allowing groups a large number of options when it comes to melee combat.

4. see above about melee class numbers..

5. no expansion has been announced (yet) soo for a class to be teased before the expansion is unheard of.. I would bet this is going to be a freebie upgrade.

those are my observations, take them for what they are worth....which is.. them and a buck will get you a soda...ROFL!!

As a warrior I'd be happy if using one disc didn't make all the others usless for such a long time afterwards. We really don't need more classes, just fix whats wrong now!

Yup Makes sense now... and I also read the chat.. so they nerfed... or actually rewriting zing and sta regen spells for later... guess we are both right.. I didn't realize they were making a NEW stat bar

Havent logged in yet today, but something I noticed after my last round of playing on test is the "STAMINA Bar" Takes forever to regen to full, whereas before you could jump all stamina out, and would be replinished is a couple ticks. Noted as in the case of mana regen it came back quicker while sitting versus standing. Getting ready to log in now, and see if anything new has been implemented since live chat on the 24th
