Default Non-rectangular shaped components: How to(?)

Does every component have to be a rectangle?

Can you make a mod shaped like:

------------------------------------------------------------
#############################
###-----------------------------------------------------
##
##
##
##
-------

for example?
or is that in essence a larger rectangle with lots of unused space?
In that case, how doyou make that section "transparent"?

I see some people using curved mods. I wonder how the open area near the curved area is treated.

Thanks in advance.

It's a larger rectangle with a lot of unused space. You make a window shaped like that by drawing a background graphic specifically for that window, with the transparent area being the transparency/alpha channel in your tga file. The drawback is that EQ still considers the transparent area to be part of the window- so if you place another window in that area, or want to click on something in-game behind the transparent area, you'll get that window when you click and not the thing you want.
