Default Good XML Program?

Lately I have been using XML Spy and it's been fine and dandy... but I was just wondering if there is another program which ya'll might recommend that is better. Something perhaps easier being I'm an XML n00b! Anyways, just throw up (gross... throw up!) a few suggestions will ya?!

Thanks in advance!

Try SidlWidl. It's not mostly xml, but you edit some xml there pretty easily. Plus it gives you a kind preview to your interface. Though it's still a new program so somethings still may be wrong with it.

Just found an xml editor that is completely free.

Cooktop

The name may sound dumb(And the name annoys me a lot heh.) but it seems to work fine.

Thumbs up Another Great XML Editor

Here's another great xml editor... I think it's better than XML Notepad

Peter's XML Editor!

Download v: 1.1.1

version 2.0 is in beta and doesnt work correctly with duplicate elements and some other bugs.

Oh yea... I dont use sidlwidl ... hehe...

That's what's great about networks

This is what I do:

1. I share out my uifiles folder over the network
2. Start EQ on the computer that has the shared uifiles folder
3. Edit the ui on another computer using an xml editor
4. do a -- /loadskin customui 1 on the EQ computer
5. View my changes
6. Edit xml again
7. ... Do this until i'm satisfied

Well, if your an old fogey, loser / etc...Like me...You do everything in the most bland, feature rich editor you can get your grubby little hands on...

http://liquidninja.com/metapad

I use it for...
Java
C#
TCL/TK/Expect
PHP
XML
CSS

Of course, your mileage may vary...and IDE is always nice, if you like to click around with the mouse alot...I am a keyboard junky...Always will be hehe

Personally, I use notepad.. that way I know everything I type stays where I put it... thats my major complaint with sidlwidl.. it completely screws up the indenting.

I think I might try to take a look at some of the programs here and see if there is one that *just* color codes the text.. I like having my text color coded.. helps make for EASY spotting of typos (oh my god my ui won't load.. oh .. doh.. I forgot a > <slaps forehead>)

Cooktop looked nice, but I already noticed the tabbing was off in a few files from editing them... Oh well, I guess I'll just stick to notepad

Hum. Dunno about JUST colour coding, but 1st page does colour code when you tell it to, or in the Preview window.
