I do wish SOE would change the default install location for EQ to something like C:\Sony\EverQuest\

Having it installed under Program Files causes nothing but problems for anyone using Vista or 7.

I have windows 7 and I have no problems. I run 64bit and I placed the game under Program Files (x86)/Sony/Everquest.

I know when I did a reinstall a while back it wanted to put it under Users/Public, or something weird...but I changed it.

I also dont use UAC in windows 7, so maybe that is why I dont have issues.

Anyway, back to the original question...

ONLY ONLY ONLY place modified files in a custom UI. There is never any reason to put in unmodified files in a custom UI since it pulls that information automatically from Default.

3.) Copy your mod UI Files to that folder C:\Program Files\Everquest\uifiles\MyUI

4.) Start eq and go in to options and load your UI

if you get errors like ryokoryu and lawford , its Sony that left out stuff nothing you can change even the default gives this error

Except that it's quite a different path if you're using STEAM. Steam downloads the game into it's own folder. Even if you already have the game installed somewhere else. The Steam UIfiles on my computer went to

C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/everquest/UIFiles...

If you run the game through Steam this is where you will have to put the custom UI folder.

That is just an example. The most common for most people.

Once you download from Steam, can't you move it where you want though? I have never used it so I don't know.

Or just don't install Steam into the Program Files folder. I run mine on a 2nd drive and it installs all of my games into the /steam folder.
