Default mix and match

I downloaded a set of files for each of the windows that I liked first off. Then I copied a set of UI files from the default skin into a new folder. I then unzipped all the files I had downloaded and replaced them in the default directory. I renamed the new folder and ran EQ. After trying to get the new UI to work, all I came up with was the default skin with no new UI mods applied. I tried requesting help in the developer's forums and got no answer, so I am trying here. What do I need to do to get the files I downloaded to work together?

Remember this is just a set of files I downloaded for each of the windows to mod them to my liking.

First time at this so explain slowly please.

I am having the same problem, I just went around to all the different sections and downloaded the files I liked the best. I extracted them all into their own nice little folder in the Uifiles folder in everquest, but nothing happens when I try to load it all, it just keeps the default. I'm goin thru the readme files now to see if I may have missed something, but I also have a previous UI that used to load successfully that isn't now.

Any suggestions?

Ok stop here.....

You do not copy any of the original default skin.

1st make a directory in the UI folder call it what you want.
2nd open the zip files and extract to the said folder.

run up everquest. when you are in you can birn up the skin interface or type

/loadskin (name of folder you made)

without the ( )

all should work fine... if not there is an error log file that gets generated. take a look in it and see what it is having an issue with.

Wait... better question... how do you make several different downloaded files to work together?

Sorry for the continuous posting but i can't edit so...

Figured out what it was. One of the files I downloaded wasn't working (possibly because of patch) and it was making all the others fail. I'm moving files one at a time and so far everything but that one file is working

Default sorta fixed

Well, I haven't gotten it all worked out yet but I have what I wanted.

I took the updated Carni UI which is slim like I like, and then copied all the other junk I liked into that file. So far, all is well expect the XML files are out of date. How do you fix that? Or is that something the editor/creator of the skin needs to update on his own?

Thanks for the answers and if I get any better results I will post em. I'll check the help section for the XML problem.
