Tamarack

Well, most of the time I just think I'm dumb, but after reading the posts on how to program, I am now sure.
My question concerns the hotbuttons that are normally on the bottom left side of screen. I want to change them so they work like they did in the old interface. White when not pressed, dark when pressed, and not highlighted when the mouse passes over them. It's a small thing but I prefer that aspect of the old better than the new ui. Anyone have any ideas?
