What I was saying is that error isn't your problem... I get that XML Compatible warning and those same errors even with the Default UI on my account without LOY... But everthing works perfectly still.. It's from a bug when they added the shared bankslots..

Your problem is being caused by something else:

According to the UIErrors you posted EQ didn't find one XML file in the folder named BL... One reason could be because there is another folder in BL that contains all the files.. If that is the case EQ will not find them..

BTW.. What UI are you trying to use?

i was jut trying ones at random i would go to dl them, then i would make a new folder and name it whatever Mage for example then click open and then save it in that folder. i wasnt trying any in paticualr

You'll need to know what a zip file is and how to unzip a zip file.. So lets start there..

A .zip file is an archive file that contains 1 or more files & folders in a compressed format..

The files you download from EQInterface are .zip files and need to be "unzipped" or decompressed for Everquest to use them..

A good program for this is called WinZip..

Now to install a ui.. Sounds like you had it right but missed the unzipping step


1. Find the UIFILES folder and create a folder named TEST inside of it

2. Download an interface (this is the zip file)
(You can start with mine for now.. Might be a little big in 800x600 (but, I know it's up to date))

3. Use Winzip to Unzip all of the files from your downloaded zip file into the TEST folder

(After unzipping the file open the TEST folder and make sure it contains several files and not just ONE folder.. If it's just a folder open that folder and move all the contents from there out to the TEST folder)

4. Enter EQ

5. in game type /loadskin (the loadskin window will appear)

6. Select TEST from the list in the loadskin window and press "Load Skin"

Ok two things do i have to pay for winzip and when i dl the ui do i put it in the folder then unzip or what?

It doens't matter - you can. Winzip will ask for a path to unzip the files to.

1st: Winzip has an evaluation version that is free to use, but it has a "beg" screen that pops up until you register it...

2nd: You can store the .zip files anywhere you like.. Like, Kuvasie said, winzip will ask where to unzip the files.

i didnt see it osted anywhere.... but idf your using Windows XP you dont need winzip...as xp has a built in extractor

Well i used the one you said was up to date, ( the UI that is) and used winzip and made sure it just wasnt one folder and got these errors hopefully we are getting some where, but it loaded the default still, and gave me a red error that said my XML files are not compatable with current everquest files and i am using windows 98 so i had to unzip which i did. Here they are

Those are your errors, the rest are just normal warning messages that are supposed to be there.

According to the actual errors, the bank window mod you have isn't current. Either just delete it, or get an up-to-date one.

Well i dont have LoY so how can i possibly get an updated bank?

The bank window is fine... Look at the warnings and examine the errors..

First the warnings:


EQ is using the default bank window.. If it's not up-to-date it would be updated starting up EQ..

In fact, it's using every default file.. There are 74 main xml files in the default UI and the UIerrors is showing 74 warnings about not finding BlahBlah.xml and loading default..

Now the errors:


Notice how it is looking for BIGB_SharedBankSlot0 & BIGB_SharedBankSlot1?

No BIGB_SharedBankSlots belong in EQUI_BankWnd.xml..

the name of the shared slots it should be looking for in that xml file are: BW_SharedBankSlot0 & BW_SharedBankSlot1..

I get the same errors if I load the default skin on my acount without LOY... I attached the UIErrors.txt I get from loading the Default UI...

To sum it up those errors are a bug with the xml compatabilty test when loading a UI..
