Hmm never heard of this before, but looks interesting... I'm thinking that I'll go about signing up

edit - signed up and joined the team... on a side note it could be hours of entertainment just watching all of the graphs and bars go by on the client as it analyzes data

try this little addon to it, it gives you a map and more information, plus doesn't slow SETI down to much to look at your progress.

(NOTE) the program must be put in the same folder as SETI to work.

SETIspy

here is a full list off all addons

The system I was running my [email protected] on was down for a couple months, so after I got it back up I had to get it reinstalled. Figured I'd join up too and add what I've done to the totals. I love this program.

EDIT: Just picked up that SetiSpy program to fiddle around with.

Yeah, I had it running in the background for months, since I didn't do much with the computer. I sometimes used it for EQ to be able to play a second character, but as it's so old now (P3/600, 512 MB RAM, old GeForce2 card, 6 GB drive, and Win98) I can't seem to get it to run EQ without crashing on startup. So now it's just a "goof around on" system.

Maybe someday SOE will fix the game so it will run again, but I suspect it'll require downgrading EQ's requirements back to DX8.0 since it was them going to DX9 that left me unable to even start the game on it anymore.

/sigh

Woot - has been awhile since I have been logged into Seti - had almost forgotten they existed. Well, I am back in the "alien" community and have joined the team

<--- Seti Virgin
(I bet they are just having us render **** movies and it has nothing to do with analyzing radio freq.)

Just signed up and got it running on my home server for now... 2.4ghz Xeon (Dual cpu capable looking for another cheap 2.4 Xeon) & 1gb ram. I got a few other 2+ghz systems i could have it run as screen saver on.

Default If you are interested in SETI

then you may enjoy the pictures on this site

http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html

Some of these photos are incredibly beautiful. They post a new one every day.

SETI is all about number crunching and so does slow down when displayed. I have SETI to run in the background all the time but never as a screen saver. SETI is well behaved and does not interfere with much of anything. SETI gets it work done when I am AFK overnight and such. Also, SETI will run on multiple machines at once. I have run it on all 3 computers on my home LAN for years without any problems.

Beautiful pictures, cognitur. I had a site like that a while back, but I lost it after a while. Thanks very much for the link!

This is the first time I've run into this, but I had to jump in because I think its a worthwhile cause. I have a question for those that have run this before. I was delving into the SETI site and was considering going ahead and downloading the BOINC based version since they will eventually be going to that anyway. My question is, what happens to the data that the old [email protected] is working on, since its not uploaded until its complete? The only reason I'm asking here is that I couldn't find an answer on SETI's site.

Just thought I would drop in and say I joined today, I'll be out of town for a while, off and on, I also use [email protected] which is simular to seti but is used for cancer research ect. http://folding.stanford.edu/stats.html maybe something to start up too for people who would rather help out 1 or the other or both. Anyways, I'm out for the day
