Inspired by Star Ocean
Im back from my little EQ vacation, so I decided to finish this UI that has been drilling in my skull forever.
The gauges have now been changed to what looks alot like the gauges in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. I just took one look at those gauges and basically flipped out. Finally I had a basis and a major building block of my UI. So I set to work, and this is what I have come up with so far.

Oh, and a side note...
If anyone knows how to get rid of the number when there is no target, (AKA Picture #3) please tell me. In order to make the number the way I wanted, I had to place it in 9 times. 8 times for one degree away in every direction to make the outline, and the 9th time for the white number itself. Since I did that, I cant make the number go away for some reason.

I JUST happen to play the game at this moment and its awesome!
(I'm at the part of CD 2 where I have to find the second gate in Mosel atm )
Good work so far and I love the look of the bars!
One question I didn't get so far tho is: how do you get the black outline to show on the text "Boomba the Big" in your 4th picture? And it is possible without multiple labels to conserve FPS in the game? Is there any XML parameters to use?

You draw the shadow as part of the background gauge, not the fill gauge. Using this method without animation frames however would keep a permanent gauge on screen, not one that would disappear.

Thank you for the hint, but I meant the names and actual HP / mana / endurance numbers Narshe had in her screenshots. I noticed that it has the numbers and letters shown with a black border. I'd like to use black borders around names and all for my UI as well and modify it and would like to know if that is possible without actually dublicating the layer and setting the text color to black.

make the same label with a different UIname with black text and offset it so that it appears to be an outline. Notice they said they had to put in 10 instances of text to render the effect.
