Default 100% Newbie /w making UIs

Okay, I've been looking around and this is all I can find out about making a UI...

~I need to know XML
~I need to have some sort of software
~Found Sidl Fiddle, SidlWidl, and EQcolors ( No idea how these work)

Am I missing anything? I'm trying really hard to learn about making UIs from previous post by going to search parts of many fourms and type "Making User Interface" but doesn't show a whole lot. Could someone help share some knowledge with me so I can ascend from this newbie state, please?

Most appreciate about any response here and the time spent to view my idiotic post that probably has tons of people annoyed already from another post like this. I'm sorry about that but I have to learn and you guys seem nice enough to do some detail explaining. Thanks once again and sorry if I angered anyone

I consider myself very good at EQUI modding. Here's what I always say:

You DON'T need SidlWidl or any other special software for XML editing. Just notepad (I assume the other programs do make it easier although I have never used them myself).

For the TGAs (graphics for UI) I recommend Photoshop (I like 6 most).

Then download mods and compare their XML to the default XML and figure out what does what. Then mod away!

I disagree Haliken, useing SidlWidl to view the mods to make sure after modding on notepad is way easier than logging into the game loading the mod... well I think it is anyway }

I play EQ while modding so it's not like I "log in" just to view changes. I'm always in-game and just use a /loadskin hotkey to load the UI after each change.

I didn't think you could get past like level 15 or 16 in D&D 2nd edition. That was the version I played (although I had first edition AD&D books, I think one is signed by Gary Gygax) and I never remember ever getting past level 8 personally.

about a year ago one of the elder players in the circle wrote a whole new set of rules, abilities, spells, races and classes, so really it's not D&D2nd anymore... more like D&DFU :-)
