for the last 2 weeks when i log into eq i am getting the your XML files are not compatable with current everquest files i have tried other UI mods and am getting the same message default does work but i am loathe to go back to it

i have tried to take apart my ui to find whats broken but apparently it is all the mods i use

being pretty much of a n00b with xml is there a pro out there who can give me some *simple* things to try/change

Those are your actual errors. Your group, target and player windows all need to be updated.

For the very first line, the LFG button in the group window, the info is here.

For the "HP" stuff in both group and target windows, the info is here.

For the TargetBox in the target window, look here.

I downloaded a Player info window and some new spell gems and have tried almost everything I can find to get them to load and they still will not load.

I adjusted the eqclient.ini file, the UI(servername) file, reloaded, etc. and cannot seem to get it to work.

I then emailed the new UI to my friend....she loaded it right up by the same process and it worked.

I checked my UIerror Log and it has nothing in it since the 13th of Jan. I am at a loss of where to go next. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Post whatever is in your UIError.txt log file. If you've played since Jan 13, check to make sure that the file hasn't somehow been set to "Read Only".

I did a new system install just prior to the date shown, but have played since and tried to load the new UIs.

I checked its properties and it is not set to Read only.

Check to be sure that you don't have two EQ directories on your system now. That happens quite a lot with fresh installs.

I took a look and found a second copy of all the EQ files in my Documents and Settings Folder. I threw those out and started up EQ, but it started downloading "missing" files and puting them right back into the Documents and Settings Folder.

I do have the copy I run set in the Program Files folder. Any clue on this one, please?

Oh..btw..I did find the UIError.txt file that it was writing to...it was the one in the Doc. and Settings folder. I'm not sure why it's running the Program Files application, but accessing the Documents and Settings one.

From the looks of that, you may have your files in a sub-folder within your custom folder. Check that. You want it to look like:

C:\program files\everquest\ui\customfolder\files

not:

c:\program files\everquest\ui\customfolder\subfolder\files
