Default Shading

Ive been having trouble in my UI with shading when it loads. I call it shading but Im a newb and most likely not using the right terminology.

Let me describe it. One example is in my compass mod. The compass has an overlay that is clear in the middle and gradually fades to dark on the sides. It gives the illusion that the compass strip is curved. Most times when I log in the shading or faded areas are solid black rather than having the gradual fade from light to dark. It happens throughout the UI but it is most noticeable on the compass window. It almost seems like a video card problem but I really have no clue. Everyone else in my guild that is using this UI is having the same trouble.

Once in awhile it will load correctly and look fantastic. This is rare and I cant really see a reason that it will load fine one time and load incorrectly 90% the rest of the time.

Any advice you can offer would be appriciated.

Thank you

Its not a UI problem, its an issue with the new graphics patch code, and hopefully they know about it.

Its not you.

It took some work but I think I may have found the workaround for this until it is fixxed. If you set your desktop display to 16bit color the game seems to load fine. All levels of detail in alpha masks are back as well not just the simple on/off that alot of people have had issues with. Hope this helps till SOE acknowledges and fixes the issue.

Providing they know about the issue. I did a bug report, hoping everyone else did as well.

others have reported same problem with my ui hail to the king (httk)v1.11 .my girl friend an i havent seen this problem with compass or displays probly because we both run desktop an eq displays at 16bit.

past year been useing 16bit display . seems to help cut down some graphic lag an takes a sharp eye to notice difrence in eq.i recomend doing desktop an in eq displays as 16 bit.
